Residents of Martin County enjoy the beauty and variety of four seasons each year without long periods of extreme heat or cold. The average temperature is 41 degrees F in January and 79 degrees F in July. Rainfall averages 48 inches annually. 

Martin County is located in Northeastern North Carolina, approximately 80 miles from the coast.  Martin County is 60 feet above sea level and has a total area of 462.44 sq. miles.  Williamston is the county seat and the largest town.

There were 25,545 residents in 1998 creating a population density of 54.27 per sq. mile.  The net migration for 1990-96 was 1%.  Per Capital Income averaged $16,193 in 1995.
