The Martin County Economic Development Corporation (MCEDC) was formed as a
non-profit corporation on May 29, 1997 to improve employment opportunities
and tax base for the community. Martin County Commissioners appoint four of
the eleven MCEDC board members—two county commissioners and two at-large
members. Funding for MCEDC is provided by the Martin County Board of
Commissioners, Martin County Committee of 100 and donations from Martin
County’s private and business sectors. |

1. |
|
Place land under option and develop a joint
agreement with Pitt County for developing the Martin-Pitt Industrial Park
in the Parmele/Bethel area. |
|
|
|
|
2. |
|
Support the County's efforts in certifying the
Martin Regional Business Park. |
|
|
|
|
3. |
|
Implement the Martin County Minority and
Women-Owned Industrial Recruitment Plan. |
|
|
|
|
|
4. |
|
Support
the Martin County 2005 efforts to meet with current industry plant
managers twice each year to support and address their needs within
Martin County. |
|
|
|
|
|
5. |
|
Support
the Martin County Chamber of Commerce and Martin Community College
Small Business Center in developing the first phase of a Martin County
Incubator Center in the former Robersonville Medical Center. |
|
|
|
|
|
6. |
|
Invite
all Town Boards to an EDC Board meeting during the year. |
|
|
|
|
|
7. |
|
Develop
a Martin County EDC newsletter to send to all economic development
partners to improve communication flow. |
|
|
|
|
|
8. |
|
Continue
to partner with Martin Community College and Martin County Public
Schools in developing the Northeast Technology & Business Center
by serving over 200 students during 2002. |
